From Danelectro:
When it first appeared in '59, the DC shorthorn line was meant to replace the popular U2 series with a more streamlined body design. While the DC introduced a new look, it still came with the U2's twin lipstick pickups, retaining that one-of-a-kind tone that captured the imagination of so many guitarists at the time. With its coil wrapped around an Alnico VI magnet and then wrapped in tape, this pickup harkens back to the vintage tone of rock's earliest days. The result is a tone that truly stands alone — jangly, midrange punch and treble kick. And with a 3-way pickup selector and volume and tone controls, you will have lots of options for dialing in your tone.
