Band Class: This class will focus on teaching students the fundamentals of playing with other musicians in a band.
Combos will be formed with drums, guitars, bass ,keyboard and horn(s). Up to 6 students can join per class.
Repertoire will be selected primarily from the classic rock era, Modern and Traditional Jazz idiom and Standard
Blues progressions. At the end of the course there will be a performance held at Music Forte.
Jam Sessions: This class will be less structured like a band class and more like a "jam session". One of our highly
qualified instructors will lead the students through simple Rock, Jazz, or a Blues tune or whatever a student might suggest.
We will put together a tune that day and see what happens. Even though this is open to a wide variety of musicianship we
will limit the invitation to students 10 yrs old to 17. Since players can call the day before and reserve a spot one session at
a time, each session can be unique based on "who shows up that day".Musicians on all instruments are welcome and we
offer this class different times every week throughout the summer. The main purpose of this class is to meet and play with
other musicians and to have fun.
Percussion Ensemble: Intermediate level drum students learn to perform with other students using various percussion
instruments. Students will learn different styles of music from around the world i.e. Africa, Brazil, Japan, Latin America,
America, Europe, as well as composing original pieces. Students are expected to practice and learn music outside of the
Percussion class. They will learn teamwork, a variety of techniques and styles, how an ensemble is organized and any other
essential skills needed to play in an ensemble. At the end of the course there will be a performance held at Music Forte.
